Applied Controls and Contracting Services (ACCS) has over 32 years experience in the IoT Controls/Building Automation/Energy Management/Temperature Controls field. We have seasoned Project Managers, Engineers, Programmers, Commissioning Technicians and other support staff. Our staff is educated in the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, IT and Computer Programming. Our projects range from simple I/O interfaces to complicated system integrations to using artificial intelligence for building analytics reporting.

ACCS is very proud of our 32 years of focusing on assisting our customers in not only saving energy/decreasing their carbon footprint, but also manpower, safety, comfortability and indoor air quality.

George Kinnison, Owner


George N. Kinnison embarked on his journey in the electronics engineering industry by enrolling at DeVry Institute of Technology in 1974. He graduated in 1977 with a bachelor’s of science degree in electronic engineering technology, later earning a master’s in project management. This laid the foundation for his career in Building Automation, starting with a position at Johnson Controls.

Later, George returned to DeVry to earn a master’s degree in project management. Following his graduation, he founded his own business in November 1990, proudly naming it Applied Controls & Contracting Services Inc. (ACCS). ACCS specializes in designing, providing, installing, and servicing temperature control systems, card access systems, fire system interlocking, lighting controls, and energy monitoring systems. The company also supplies Johnson Controls building automation system equipment.

In 1995, George Kinnison founded his second company, Trinity Technology Services, Inc., which focuses on training and employing individuals in various technological fields such as fire alarm testing, security installation, and temperature controls preventative maintenance.

In 2013, George was honored with the 2013 Minority Supplier of the Year award, Class 1, by the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council.
